Updated: Sep 16

Add some fun into your socially distant days and enjoy some instant happiness by taking part in the 2021 Bike Anywhere Week from May 16 – 22, 2021. Taking part in the week is easy: just hop on a bike and take a ride to work, school, the store, the beach, or around your neighborhood.

Carlsbad Commuter is proud to partner with SANDAG, the San Diego Bike Coalition, and other regional agencies for Bike Anywhere Week. Together, we’ve created the tools and resources you need to take your bike for a spin. From tips to make sure your bike is in working order to prizes you can win for riding your bike to work, read on to find out everything you need to know to take part in Bike Anywhere Week.

For Carlsbad Commuters and Residents:

  1. Dust Off Your Bike: Got lunch plans on May 17? Join the San Diego Bicycle Coalition for a Virtual Bike Safety Quick Check to make sure your bike is in good working order every time you hop on. Whether your bike has been leaning against the garage wall for the last decade or you just need a quick bike safety refresher, this virtual event will equip you with the knowledge you need to get in gear for your next ride. In the meantime, download this great tip sheet on the rules of the road!

  2. Knowledge is (Pedal) Power: Throughout Bike Anywhere Week, you can join a number of FREE classes from the San Diego Bicycle Coalition to help you get comfortable on the road. Get started with Bike Commuting 101, Bike Commuting 202, or Smart Cycling Classes.

  3. Make a Pledge: While you want to bike for happiness now, life will can get in the way and dash those best intentions. To help you stay focused on your goal, commit to ride at least once by taking the Bike Anywhere Week official pledge. It only takes one minute to fill out, and there’s a free t-shirt in it for you!

  4. Get Rewarded: If you ride a bike or ebike to work, you can earn chances at $250 in monthly gift cards through our Carlsbad Commuter rewards platform! For a shot at the prizes, simply take a bike commute and log it in our rewards program’s Commute Tracker app (all other sustainable trips are eligible, too!).

For Carlsbad Schools:

  1. Walk, Ride and Roll to School: Register and encourage your students to learn about active transportation to and from school with a free virtual class! SANDAG iCommute Walk, Ride, and Roll to School classes are designed to teach students skills and safety to build confidence and encourage active transportation choices like biking.
